What is the Great British Insulation Scheme?
The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) was launched in Summer 2023 to facilitate and fund the installation of energy efficiency measures. GBIS will run until March 2026 and the government has predicted that the scheme could save households up to £310 per year.
How to check your eligibility
There are two eligibility groups, the general group and low income group:
To be eligible for the General Group, you must:
- Live in a home that falls within Council Tax bands A-D in England
- Live in a home that falls within Council Tax band A-E in Scotland or Wales
- Have an EPC rating of D or below
This group does not include the private renter sector.
To be eligible for the low-income group you must:
- Receive means-tested benefits
- Have an EPC rating of D or below
If you’re eligible, you may receive a single insulation measure.
